Did you guys know this concept that it's coming up now? It's still a bit underground but there is one in Barcelona, other in New York and I don't know if it exists in more places. The idea is that you go to this bar and poets read you their poetry in private. It's really like a brothel but with poetry instead of sex. It's a very cool idea. The things I find out in the Ryanair magazine - and it doesn't have a wikipedia page! Here's a link to the article.
It's fun. Although some (most?) people don't really follow the rules of using symbols of the season or similar references and they just write a few words about whatever they want and call it Haiku. If I were Japanese I would be mad at this. As I'm not, I just enjoy reading these snips.
Only in the UK but I'm adopting it anyway. Here are some TED Talks about poetry.
So funny that they censor the suits :-) I'm guessing that was the irony she was going after in doing this!
The artist Bill Guffey has a Virtual Paintout project where each month people gather in one area of the world, virtually, to paint or draw a scene and composition, within a predetermined area. This month the selected place is Lisbon. This is a cool way of artists to organize and make their work known to the public. It works very well and here are the results from Florence, Paris and Seattle.
