UN Women

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women was recently created - to be known as UN Women. I've been away from the news lately and I don't know if it was widely publicized or not. Anyway, I discovered this when Michelle Bachelet, former president of Chile, was nominated head of this new agency - she's a truly admirable person.

The North Koreans go home...

An article with some considerations about what will happen to the North Korean national football team.

Is there anyway to avoid this? There has to be, at least, some monitoring of what happens to these guys and if something indeed happens, North Korea shouldn't participate in any competition of any kind.

EU, Presidency of the council

We have to ratify the Treaty of Lisbon as fast as we can. It's not conceivable that the currently non-elected president, that I, as every one else, didn't vote for, either directly or indirectly, is representing me saying that there is no global warming. It's not my fault that the people from Czech Republic elect a totally irresponsible person. Until the treaty is ratified, is there any temporary solution? Is impeachment possible?
